Inside the valley of East Rosebud in Roscoe, Montana sits a rock house and red barn built in 1920 by Swiss immigrants, John and Rosina Branger. Building materials were gathered from the rocks by the river and old growth pines along the mountains. The Branger family ran a cattle ranch called T-O Bar and in the 1930’s and 40’s, opened the property as a dude ranch for city slickers.
Danielle purchased this historic remnant of a ranch in 2017 and in the fall of 2024, committed herself to being a steward to this land and history by living in the valley full time. Mourning’s next body of installation work resides inside the rock house and will encompass a residency for weary souls needing to rest in the barn. This time and chapter is a gift she is committed to actualizing.
ART PROJECT 2025 began by settling into this homestead and making friends with the ghosts along with the seventeen full time residents of Roscoe. Life in solitude began with the adaptation of moving through time and space with little to no distractions except oneself. The journey of communing with the land and creating a art installation has begun. This project will require a great deal of financing, commitment and above all, passion.
The barn will transform into the envisioned installation and welcome visitors quite like what was accomplished with Stay with Me but on an entirely new level.
This time around, we want you to truly stay with me for a while. Your visit will be within an experiential installation. The time spent will be both a balm for and a rattle to your Soul.
