IRELAND 2005

Within the Natural History II series, we are taken to 1845, right after the birth of photography itself, to imagine the circumstances of my Irish forbearers during the potato famine in Northern Ireland. Inspired by drawings and accounts from historical newspapers at the time of the famine, I have staged a vivid yet stark tableaux which illustrates a monumental chapter within Irish history.
